Grouse Mountain

So yesterday I was on a beach, today I am up a mountain and walking about on snow. They say that they will have snow till the end of may! The ski hills are closed but there is still lots of snow. Could have built a fair few snowmen. I don't now how they can fit so many people into the lifts up and down. Saw a couple of retired film stars - some white wolfs who's retired home is on the mountain! Would be good having a ski slope so close by, only takes about half an hour to get there, would be temped to learn.

Seabus and Londsdale Quay

Took the seabus over to North Vancouver to go to Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain. Already this trip i have been on a ferry and now a seabus and i say i don't do boats! The Seabus takes you over to Lonsdale Quay which is another market similar to Granville Island but smaller. The seabus only takes about 12 minutes to cross the water and a lot of people seem to take it back and forward to work. Didn't really feel like i was on a boat.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Got lost for the first time, but only because i got on the wrong bus! When to the capilano suspension bridge which hangs over a canyon it is one those bridge that bounces when you stand on it. It is a strange feeling walking across it and really hard not to sway. There is a smaller forest walk as well which reminded me a bit of a kids adventure play park but higher up.

Vancouver Lookout

Vancouver lookout in at the harbour centre and you can take a glass elevator on the outside of the building up to the stop. Don't recommend it is you are afraid of heights! It gives you a 360 view of the city.

English Bay and Granville Island

2nd beach at English Bay is one of Vancouver's beaches. It is where the polar bear swim takes place on New Year's Day. It is weird to be standing on a beach and be looking at mountains with snow on them.

Took a walk round some of English bay then took the small ferry boat across to to Granville Island. Granville Island isn't actually an island it is a shopping market. There is a public market full of food and drinks stalls, which if you lived here would be great. You can get all you fruit and veg fresh plus they have some great bakeries. Aunt Irene you show have seen the cakes! Craig finally saw my first pick 'n' mix place but didn't get any got some fudge instead. Could have spend a fortune in the shops.

Stanley Park

Went to the aquarium at stanley park, Graham you will need to tell me what you think of the giant fish! Do you think you could catch one, it is a freshwater fish. Saw the lion show and the beluga whales show. Got soaked at the end of the beluga whale show when one of them slashed their fins. Best there was the sea otters they are highly amusing appartenly there is a you tube film of them and it is a huge hit.

After that I walked round the seawall that goes around stanley park and gives you great views of north vancover and downtown vancover. Stopped at the totem poles and then continued walking round to prospect piont at lion's gate bridge.

Was a nice walk along the seawall until you got to the part that is closed due to the damage from the storm that hit in december. So had to take a detour up a rwally steep hill. The park is really nice, I know we have a park close by and it is good but it doesn't have an aquarium, a yacht club, rowing club, cricket field, beaches, minutature railway abd farm animals and that was just the stuff that i saw.

I've Arrived

Better later than never i have started my blog!! Vancouver is a really nice city, the streets are too clean. The first couple of days here it didn't stop raining but the last few days have been beautiful, I even have some sunburn, i know its a shock! (Bought suntan cream mum don't worry). The views that you see here are amazing. You can be walking down the street and you can see the mountains in the distance.

For the first couple of days just sorted out the boring stuff and walked about to get by bearings and had a look at some shops at the same time. Not bought anything as don't have any room in my bags as it is. Went and saw a couple IMAX 3D films at Canada Place, Lions and Dinosaurs. Dinosaurs was quite good but Lions was boring. Walked around Gastown it has some interesting shops and lots of restaurants. It is where the steam clock stands, it whistles every 15 minutes as well as playing a tune on the hour.
